August 11, 2021 – COVID-19 Update
As the conference gets nearer and we’re watching the news about the new COVID variants, we wanted to give you an update on the precautions we’re planning to take for the in-person Live Experience event.
Precautions:
- LA County is requiring masks for all folks (regardless of vaccination status) inside. Most of our event is inside, so we will definitely require masks.
- We will also require proof of vaccination or a recent negative covid test (within a week) for entry into the live experience.
- We are keeping our in-person audience small (we are capping attendance at 100, but may have fewer) and will work to provide as much space as possible for physical distancing in our large ballroom.
- We will continue to follow the guidelines and mandates from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and we will keep you apprised if there are more updates.
Please note that we will always be at or more conservative than the state and local guidelines, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if anything is unclear.

A Quick Note:
Our opinions are our own. We are only speaking for ourselves – except when we speak for each other, or over each other. We’re working on it.
Our guests are also only speaking for themselves and have their own opinions. We aren’t trying to take their voice, and no one speaks for us either. Mostly because they don’t want to, but hey.

Hey, modern therapists, Curt Widhalm, Katie Vernoy. And we just wanted to pop in here for a moment and tell you about Therapy Reimagined 2021. Talk about exactly how this conference is going to go down. And this is our first chance to really talk about it in any depth beyond just kind of the Hey, go check out our website that we usually throw at the end of our episodes.
Katie Vernoy 00:43
Yeah, I am so excited. So the virtual is going to be very similar to what it was last year where we have awesome conversations, speakers in the chat, we have our discussion lounges where you can pop in afterwards and ask questions for the speakers. And, you know, some virtual networking and our social wall. But this year, I am so excited that we are going to have a small group of us back in person in Los Angeles Sheraton Universal. And I think that’s confusing some people.
Curt Widhalm 01:17
It’s first a chance to come and hang out with some really cool people. If you have not been to one of our live experiences before. This is an energy that is not seen in many other therapist conferences, now a lot of engagement of the people who get to be there. And a lot of really good learning skills that we make, our presenters have to follow a lot of good experiential activities. People just leave buzzing year after year. And we missed it last year because of the pandemic. And for our in person, people this year, you get the chance for a hybrid conference and being able to kind of put into words, what that means is, you get the wonderful experience of a live conference, as well as the virtual conference. And once again, we’re making it to where our live, people end up getting access to the stuff that’s on the virtual platform through the end of 2021. We have a wonderful app that we’ve been working on behind the scenes, we had it last year for the virtual conference this year, we’re going to build on that for our live experience people as well, you virtual folks, you’ll you’ll still get the same opportunity to be on the app and interact with people. But through all of the background work that we’re doing, anybody who’s coming live will also get all of the virtual experience as well.
Katie Vernoy 02:47
And I think the thing that’s really exciting is that we’ll have folks who are attending the virtual conference from all over the country all over the world, and we can interact together, it’s the same app. So we’ll be in the chat together, we’ll be on the social wall together. And then for the folks who join us live in Los Angeles, we have some of our speakers presenting live from the stage, that’ll be live streamed into the virtual conference, don’t worry virtual attendees, you’ll get to see it. But those of you in person will be there, you can ask some questions, maybe they’ll you’ll even be pulled up on stage, it’s going to be great. And then there’s also extra time. I know one of the things that we always get feedback on. And I don’t know how many times you’ve heard this clip, it’s like we have too much packed in. And so on the live experience, we recognize you’re going to make the trip to CES. And so we have extra space built into the schedule so that you can spend time with the speakers who are coming out, you can see that the partners that we have fully vetted and talk to them about what they are putting on, you can meet up with your colleagues and have a long lunch or lay by the pool or go over to Universal Studios. And there are receptions every single night, which is going to be so much fun. So with a focus on the live experience. Yes, there’s education. Yes, you have access to all of the learning, but the focus is going to be on being together with other therapists.
Curt Widhalm 04:14
So I know there’s going to be some questions about how we’re handling COVID. And we are fortunately not in the department of actually handling COVID ourselves but we are in the department of handling COVID protocols and our conference. So we know that things are changing by the day by the week. We will have all of our updates frequently on our social media and definitely on our website as far as what we’re doing but we are going to do the strongest precautions that we can and that means that we will be following the guidelines from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health at the time of this recording about five weeks out from the conference. So we’re expecting that there will be indoor mask mandates, we will be making sure that people are not congregating really close together will encourage social distancing and stuff as well. And we will continue to update everyone on if those guidelines change become stricter. We do encourage everybody who’s got vaccines to be ready to show those vaccine proofs and you have time to get vaccinated now, if you’re not in that club yet, but the main point on this is stay tuned to our communication channels. As far as where we’re at with COVID, those things do end up changing by the day, and our social media is the best place to follow that.
Katie Vernoy 05:48
And I know that it’s, it’s tough, because if you’re worried about coming to an in person conference, we get it. That’s why we’re doing so many safety protocols. But that’s also why we’re doing a really awesome virtual conference alongside the in person activities. So if you want to join us, but you aren’t ready to be in person with other modern therapists, check out the virtual conference are going to be a ton of activities a whole day of practical and business knowledge and interacting with our vetted partners. We’ve got the all of the content will be either live streamed or recorded so that you can then go in, interact with other modern therapists also get your continuing education where that’s available. There’s going to be so much fun. I honestly, you know, for folks who went to the virtual conference last last year, they said that they were shocked at how much it felt like the community coming together, even though we weren’t physically sharing the same space. So if you have any questions, don’t worry. We’re available email events at therapy, reimagined, calm, but we’d love to see you there. We’d love to have you join us whether it’s virtual, whether it’s in person, we dismiss you guys, so come on out, it’s gonna be great!
Curt Widhalm 07:02
You can get your tickets at therapyreimaginedconference.com, and you want to get them especially if you’re considering the live experience as soon as possible because there is an extremely limited number of these tickets. We’ve also put together our package of tickets that includes your hotel rooms, that way you’re not having to go and seek out accommodations. We’ve got that rolled right into the price of the conference there as well. And we’ll take care of getting you your room that way. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the therapy reimagined experience.
Katie Vernoy 07:39
We hope to see you there. So excited for this yea! It’s gonna be amazing!
